Frequently asked questions
Date calculations, week numbers, and holiday coverage, explained.
The date calculator
How does the days-between-dates calculator work?
Enter a start and end date and the calculator instantly shows the number of days, weeks, and remaining days between them, calculated using your device's local time.
Can it handle a date range that spans multiple years?
Yes. It calculates the exact day difference regardless of how many years, including leap years, fall between the two dates.
Today's date and week numbers
What day of the year is it today?
The homepage shows the current day-of-year automatically, based on your device's date, along with how many days remain in the year.
What is an ISO week number?
ISO 8601 week numbering defines week 1 as the week containing the year's first Thursday, so weeks always start on Monday. It's widely used in business, logistics, and academic planning, and can differ from other regional week-numbering conventions.
Holidays
Why do only a few holidays appear on this site?
We list widely recognized international observances with a fixed calendar date. Many public holidays vary by country or move each year, so we don't attempt to list every regional holiday. See our disclaimer.
Privacy
Does this site use my location?
No. English Calendar doesn't request location access for any feature. All calculations rely only on your device's local date and time. See our privacy policy.
